I usually like all kinds of music. But the music I love mostly has some sort of guitar in it, even a lot of the hip hop songs I like have guitar somewhere. I enjoy singers but I'm more of a lyrics guy, if they can sing decently but have awesome lyrics I'll be into it. But as for technicality it doesn't matter if I feel its passionate or creative. Lyrics I usually like to be indirect, I don't really like shoved it your face lyrics where it's obvious what they're talking about.

I like piano's a lot in music as well, not really synth's or too electric piano's but like a grand piano. I also love violins and viola's in music, it's something about the tone, idk but it's great. Same with the saxophone. I also like very simple drum beats.

I don't really like catchy songs. I like catchy parts in songs, like a catchy bass line or guitar riff. But catchy repetitive vocals are just so annoying, even songs where the same chorus keeps being played over and over, really annoying. I like music to flow and move and change like a language.

The sudden transition between notes always gives me chills. The way it's composed is truly amazing, surely the composer must have a creative mind. I always listen to some music when I am idle, not the lyrical type of music but soundtracks.

And of course, music which is catchy always tends to remain in the mind longer. I love piano >_>

That'd be hard for me to summarize... I like different genres/artists for different reasons. Like, I love Beethoven's work because of the power and deep expression... or Aesop Rock because of his intelligent and thoughtful lyrics... or Adrian Sina because of the energy.

Piano and strings are my favourite instruments, though the right player for any other instrument and I can love that too (Stewart Copeland's drumming being a prime example).

All that matters to me is that whatever the music maybe, it is born through artistic intent and/or skill.

I like the singing/vocal arrangements in particular. I think the way a great singer can take a lyric and express it and give it meaning (like a story) is really amazing, i.e: Maria Callas.
