Movies like "Kings speech" or "The artist" won an Oscar for best movie of the year...why is that? Movies like that are boring and rarely make it to the top 100 highest grossing movies!
Why do the shit movies get Oscars?

Superhero movies get snuffed all the time. They deserve to be taken seriously.
But the movies that are picked, it's all opinionated by a few people. I just pay it no attention. Leo Dicaprio deserves an oscar, but he doesn't have one. So, in all forms, the best doesn't exactly win.

King's speach was awesome.
Andy Serkis should already have won an Oscar for Gollum but whatevs, and Leo, well let's just say I think he should've won with WOWS, but Mathew lost I don't how many pounds and it was a movie about AIDS, so automatic Oscar win right there.

:|That's going a bit too far. I mean, yes if I had to choose which film to watch on a Saturday night with friends, Avengers all the way, but seriously, it's over-the-top comic book action (great over-the-top comic book action I might add), the Avengers was not a film made for sake of making an art film like so many Oscar contenders do every year, it was film made to have fun.
Lol no, the marvel cinematic universe has too little story and a cast that is just too mediocre for the academy awards, that's not to say that the academy is always right
Hell comic book movies in general don't really fit in there, from my fav movies only LoTR, The Godfather and MAYBE TDK deserve it but most don't

I'm guessing you haven't seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Most Superhero movies are to be taken seriously and these actors pull it off good now even on TV shows.
yea .... no, I loved teh winter soldier but that movie has no place in a 10m radius around the academy
there is only 1 superhero movie that maybe deserves that kind of recognition (unless it's special effects or something) and it's TDK
while the Avengers may be entertaining it's just not academy award material
takes seriously? well they are not joke movies (though the Marvel cinematic universe has a lot of silliness in it) but they also shouldn't be takes too seriously, they are simple action superhero movies after all
some superhero movies have great casts (by far the best in the TDK trilogy and the X Men franchise) but most movies (Spiderman, most Marvel CU movies, ...) don't have top notch performances, and the 2 TV shows I know of are mediocre at best compared to the best TV shows out there
don't look for a masterpiece in Marvel movies (or other superhero movies) ... just enjoy it

I agree, King's speech was so whack.
Basically movie critics are up their own arses, just like anime critics on NB. They don't go for the immeasurable enjoyment factor, they use calculate criteria to technically evaluate the movie. Personally I'd rather they went for enjoyment.
