No, he's not a hero. Just a very shady shinobi/tyrant. Well-intentioned extremist at best or an antivillain. He did care about Konoha, but the way in which he chose to protect it was all wrong. He chose the most extreme path first.

He's responsible for the lives of Nagato, Kabuto, and Itachi being ruined.

If he hadn't been paranoid over Kabuto's spying ability and his mother's, Konoha would still have two of the world's best spies today.

If he hadn't sided against Hiruzen's ideas of negotiation and swayed the elders, then Hiruzen wouldn't have been outvoted by him. He wouldn't be able to go to Itachi and make it so that he'd have to murder his kin. Because that would cut losses since they were dying no matter what the kid did. If that hadn't happened, you'd have Itachi as Hokage and Konoha would be much stronger with the Uchiha clan still alive.

He also extended Root. An organization where people have to kill off their emotions by killing one close to them. And he was allowed to use seals on them so that they'd keep quiet and literally be his tools. That's not very moral.

Danzo's done a lot of scheming, most of which did protect Konoha, yes. But, that protection would not be needed had he just done things the correct way in the first place.

Also, don't get me wrong. I enjoy Danzo as a character. He's complex and represents the dark side of human nature and our selfish desires. But, he's not a hero.

Danzo was definitely interesting. I've said it a hundred times, but he shouldn't have died so early. He could added so much more to the plot from the shadows of Konoha and what transpired through time.

How were the Uchiha crazy? They were being treated unfairly for something they didn't do (Kyuubi attack),and were tired of taking Konoha's crap so they planned on rebelling.

Were they supposed to continue to live section off from Konoha for some more YEARS,and be spyed on and whatever else may have happened?Danzo knew They weren't behind the Kyuubi attack,and he wanted them killed so he could get their power - hence 10 Sharingan on his arm and Shisui's right eye.He betrayed the Uchiha,set them up (acting as if they were behind the Kyuubi attack,while knowing they weren't),had them treated unfairly knowing they would reteliate because of it (being sectioned off for years and spied on),and had them killed so he could get their power.

That was selfish.The Uchiha were chill until they were framed for the Kyuubi attack yet you act as if Danzo did the right thing with the massacre lol he was the one who cause them to even want to rebel,and he used that as an excuse to kill them.

Lol yeah a war that could of started because of him.And didn't he steal Shisui's eye cause he knew Shisui would stop them with KA? Indeed,he wanted the Uchiha's dead for his own personal gain,so he can get their Sharingans.He even worked with Orochimaru who was an Infamous S Class Criminal Missing Nin Traitor,so he could implant the Uchiha's stolen Sharingans amd Hashirama's stolen DNA,which Orochimaru got from Hashirama's grave.

Yet the Uchiha's were the bad guys,and Danzo was a hero.

I didn't know the Howling Fox was a Danzo fanboy.

However pure Danzo's intentions were at one point, they eroded when he killed the Toad meant to summon Naruto during Pain's incursion. He allowed Konoha and her citizens to fend for themselves while Naruto wasn't there to protect it. Not exactly a heroic deed.
