Still using your logic if Itachi had simply allowed Sasuke to break Tsukuyomi then that wouldn't have pushed Sasuke. This was the same with Amaterasu.Itachi used his most powerful techs to exhaust Sasuke so that Sasuke would allow Orochimaru to escape. :bdpf:
Allowing Sasuke to escape would have been counterproductive to Itachi's own goal.
