Why do people say Itachi is stronger than Orochimaru?

There's a difference between taking a body and trying to kill someone.
Orochimaru did not want to harm his possible future body Itachi, even though he could have easily killed him.
Also if he killed Itachi he couldnt have manipulated Sasuke to come to him.

Orochimaru was 50 years old, experimented his entire life and was confirmed to be stronger than Jirayia.
And it was confirmed Jiraja=Itachi and Kisame.

How can anyone think Lord Orochimaru would lose against a 13 year old boy?

Well, the only ppl with significant genjutsu resistance are Perfect jinchuuriki and other sharingan users. That is one reason the uchiha are so feared :|

Images don't work and failing vision doesn't effect tsukuyomi except maybe its range. The fact that it took such a toll on Itachi to have it broken shows that Itachi didn't take it easy.

Amaterasu would have killed Sasuke as well if Sasuke didn't prepare

It was Itachi's intention for Sasuke to break Tsukuyomi, afterall, if Tsukuyomi ended Sasuke he wouldn't have been able to seal Orochimaru.
