Yeah naruto would be screwed pretty badly. I know the kyuubi was storing senjutsu chakra for the rasengan but naruto himself wasn't in sagemode form. I guess plot kept that sword in kaguya's dimension.
I always thought Sasuke used a sword because he wanted to, not necessarily because he would be in a disadvantage without it. Also, you have to remember Sasuke initiated the fight, so if it would truly make a difference, he wouldn't have. He also made sure that he had the tailed beasts chakra at his disposal before, and it took a while for Naruto to come to terms that he needed to fight for his life.
It's clear that they were fighting on Sasuke's terms, not Naruto's.
Sasuke was all about kenjutsu in part 2. Has he ever used pure taijutsu in part2? Besides vote2, the only time I can think of is when he punched Deidara in the face at the end of their battle. Literally whenever his sword was blown away for a moment, he was then using chidori or it's variants. It was Sasuke's first fight since ages when he was forced to use pure taijutsu.
Now don't even get me started with "Naruto would just counter with kunai"

chidori empowered kusanagi would cut kunai in half
and what's the most important:
Sasuke's kenjutsu >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Naruto's kenjutsu
Naruto could withstand maybe a minute, but Sasuke would cut him in the end.

When they both were out of chakra for avatars and their respective powers(RSM, Rinnegan). I don't see base Naruto being able to defend himself from Sasuke's sword.
Kishi basically stripped Sasuke from his main weapon, and made him play his oponent's game - taijutsu fight against Naruto who's all about brute force. Now how would this fight look like if Naruto was forced to play Sasuke's game? - Sasuke would draw out this
lol kids these days. this is getting worse everyday. Now a blade would have decided the outcome of battle that city busting attacks couldn't. You think sasuke without sharingan stood a chance against naruto in hand to hand combat including kenjutsu? No. it was plot that let him live. It was plot that made naruto trip with rasengan in his hand. And was plot that allowed sasuke to use 9 bijus casually. So if plot demands it, naruto would have broken that sword with bare hands if need be.
