I mean I understand you're really not trying to be arrested, but if they police are trying to arrest you that means you've already taken the L. The more you resist the more L's you take. Why is that so hard for people? Then when someone resists the cops and gets a knee to the head, because they won't chill out all of the SJWs come out of the wood works to say that's too much force.

Anyway, why do people resist arrest? Would you?

If someone is resisting arrest just taze them, straight up.

My rant is because of seeing this video:

All she had to do was take the L and get put in handcuffs. Most likely they would have found out she just wanted to go to the bathroom and would've let her go and told her to stop banging on doors. However, I suspect she was under the influence because of how she was acting but that's irrelevant.

Basically, don't claim too much force if you're resisting. :coffee:

Saw this on WSHH but I can't front, I've seen videos where the suspect straight up dips on the cop and gets away, sometimes even with cuffs on but in most cases it's best not to resist. Resisting arrest makes the police paranoid and that's what leads to these assaults and causalities.

Think about the typical person who gets arrested. Not particularly intelligent. That's why they resist. If you get arrested, you shut your mouth and follow orders. Ask for your phone call and call a lawyer. Say nothing until they get there

Exactly. The more you resist, the more the cops think you're about to do some shit. Just relax.

People just want to play the victim so bad.

I think the feeling of being weak and getting treated like that hits people from the inside and they tend to get their frustration out with their bodies, hence why most of them don't even realize they were resisting to begin with.

But yeah I agree, giving up is the best option anyway.

A lot of times if you're being arrested or detained on some petty shit you won't go to jail. Just because you get put in cuffs does not automatically put your name on a cell. If it's like a fight or something of the sort they'll put everyone involved in cuffs so that everyone can calm down, then they figure out what's going on.

Cuffs =/= Jail.

I'm noit saying give up the fight entirely. I'm saying choose your battles. How are you going to win with 2 cops on you wrestling you to the ground? In no outcome is there a W for you. Simply take the L in the battle, and live to fight your case. Especially when it's something simple and the cops are willing to listen to your side of the story on scene.

It's a combination of factors.

I'm going to get labeled a hateful person and possibly a racist, but many of these people who are continual problems with the law are on various income subsidy and government benefit programs. Many of them are children who have grown up in broken home environments where they have largely been given free reign of the house due to the parents being off working, goofing around, or just having a negligent attitude.

These people are used to having the world handed to them on a silver platter, for the most part. They are very disconnected from a reality where there are unavoidable consequences for actions. Add in a culture of music that tends to follow these demographics that glorifies "gang" behavior, conflicts with the law, and delusions of grandeur that are to be 'respected' by others...

And the stage is set for someone who is simply incapable of understanding the gravity of the situation they are in who does not believe that any penalty will materialize. They choose to resist because they believe they don't anticipate a consequence.

Throw in factors like adrenaline, and a little teenage/young adult rebellious trends - and you've got a society full of mini warlords who believe they own everyone they lay eyes on.

It's just an in the heat of the moment type thing. If a cop has the intention of arresting you, then you're pretty much ****ed from then on unless you have money to help you through the criminal justice system.

I come from a place where the Police are corrupt nearly by default. So its common tactics for us to be put up a face and behave gentlemanly enough (Not to polite nor too aggressive) when dealing with them ... But resisting arrest (unless your are gang member or have poltical connections) are idiotic in every sense for us. I think same applies for USA too, when you are going to get a trip to the Station anyway ... what is the point of making it worse? (In fact resistance makes it seem suspicious)

IMO people who resist arrests are people who have problems with authority figures from the beginning ... or 'exhibit **** the police' attitude.

Instinct really.

Only rational people would own up to their crimes.
Such a shame. Once we get restrained and arrested, we feel like were the victim here and not the 50 people you've shot up and massacred.

They think they have a chance at getting away, and weigh that with a few nights in jail. In the heat of the moment, they don't think about how little their chance is of getting away or how big their chances is of getting more jail time.
Or another take on it, is that thanks to biased news media, Police brutality seems much more prominent than it actually is, and they're actually in fear of their lives.
