I never understood why people think so highly of the Beatles.
The way I see it, they are a bunch of hippies, with crappy hair styles, junk hippie music and especially their main hippie singer John Lennon; with his liptard songs and fugly face.

They influenced a lot of artists with their style, more so than anyone else since. They deserve the recognition for being such pioneers in music.

Now, if you're asking why people enjoy their music, then the answer's obvious. It's just a matter of taste, man. I don't like 'em personally, but I acknowledge the fact that many artists wouldn't be here today without them.

Exactly.

The Beatles
Elvis
Johnny Cash

They all influenced music so much that they essentially created a new genre altogether. I recognize their value to current musical standards, but I by no means enjoy their music. I view them simply as a stepping stone to greater things.

Influencing other artists? That doesn't make much sense to me.

Elvis had a completely different style and in a complete different genre, as well as Johnny Cash...

I don't care for them (and Classic Rock is my favorite genre of music). Their earlier music is too "boy-bandish" for me. Songs like Helter Skelter and Come Together aren't terrible. The main reason they're popular is because they came over to America with a different sound. They weren't like American artists, and for that reason they thrived. If they would have stayed in Britain, though, I doubt we'd know their name (another rock band, Slade, was bigger than them).

Led Zeppelin >>> The Beatles. Zep's sound, diversity, stage presence, ability, et cetera, in my opinion, is much better than The Beatles. They've also introduced new sounds to music.
