[Discussion] Why Do People Keep Claiming Shanks Can Take Out Akainu?

It has nothing to do with the folks at MF. I'm comparing the fact that Teach mocked Shanks and then left saying it wasn't time for him to fight Shanks, and then running away in terror from Akainu while saying the same thing.
You're special if you think any kind of battle happened between those two. That's not hype of strength whatsoever.
Just like I thought, based on imagination and fanboyism.

Meaning that instead of fighting the suicidal Kaido was easily subdued or backed down even better for Akagame's Hype
So when kaido backs down its not hype but when BB the most cowardly dude does its supreme hype. Did u see his introduction speech in the manga. Btw I don't even think shanks biggest fear was kaido backing down but more of the clash with WB

It doesn't mean that. It means we have no idea what happened. For all we know, Shanks groveled to Kaido. For all we know, he paid him off. For all we know, he gave him a Rio Poneglyph. The possibilities are endless, but we know a fight isn't one.
No its not because we don't know why Kaido backed down. We know Teach backed down because he himself said he wasn't strong enough to fight Akainu, just like he did to Shanks. That's hype.
This is what I was talking about when I questioned you that if you want us to separate BB's group from the folks at MF; How can you be sure that a part of reason why BB got cocky at MF wasn't because they were surrounded by other big factions? BB, by that point, should've realized that Shanks wouldn't attack him. Let's see him try and doing it in a scenario where it doesn't involve the rest of the factions that were present at MF, then we can talk about how great of a portrayal Akainu had than Shanks. By the way, BB seemed pretty confident about no marine at MF being able to stop him until when Shanks arrived and made him know his place.

The only thing this changes is that Teach won't be cocky. The fact that he'd still run from Shanks if the Marines weren't there still places the hype as the same as Akainu's.
There is only one person who has the manga facts to back him up that is strong enough to probably win every 1 on 1 fight at this point and that is Kaido, everything else is speculative bullshit.

Not really, if a character flees to avoid fighting WB and then the same dude does the same with East Blue Zoro, it doesn't place their hype on the same level in slightest. The fear doesn't necessarily have to be of the same level just because the reaction is similar. We can't just separate BB's case from MF scenario, the entire thing was used to hype Shanks. The mere fact that Akainu was just one of many hype tools used to place Shanks in a brighter light is what makes his hype better than Akainu's.

Believe what? That there are multiple plausible scenarios as to what happened between Shanks and Kaido, but a full battle not being one of them? Of course I believe that, I'm capable of looking at this without fanboyism deluding me.

You think Kaido would back down from a talk? If he saw Shanks with Rio Ponygliph he would not negotiate for it, he will kill Shanks for it or better "good luck killing me Shanks" :|

You'll notice it took everything Akainu has plus 10 days to defeat Aokiji. Winning with mere devil fruit difference. Doffy looked comfortable vs a rouge Aokiji.

-Took half the head of the strongest man even after a surprise attack.
And this was all done against the limit of strength at that time in One Piece(Whitebeard).
If Shanks would show some strength feats even better than this then he'd be stronger. But the difference between the two would be minute in any case.

And akainu was shown to use guys like squardo to get any chance to weaken WB, that actually shows him feeling inferior, a retreat on the other hand doesn't. If akainu is strong as u claim a weakened and old wb should've gotten mid diffed but he didn't. But that's a different matter, point is akainus hype is weak but only in comparison to the all time great guys and yonkos like Kaido and even shanks who has an edge
