why do people cosplay?

cosplayers are huge pieces of fail imo. can someone please tell what the point of it is?

they waste money on awkward looking clothing
then dress up
then take pictures with their fail buddies
and then they go home

dont tell me its like halloween (cuz thats for kids) or like a fancy dress party (because at least its a PARTY and theres cool people there)


cosplayers make me ashamed to like naruto or any manga, because i know they like it too

So then whats your point? That they shouldn't cosplay because for some reason in your opinion it's, 'fail' and 'shameful' to the manga?

Please, if anything it goes to show their dedication to the manga; who cares if they can/cannot pull it off, how on earth are you affected by it?. Why does anyone do anything? Because they want to. They cosplay because it's what their interest consists of and they find it fun; who are you to say otherwise.

It's an awesome experience, to dress up like a character you've always admired or liked and having your friends cosplay with you too is so much fun! That's why people do it and the best part is that you can dress up at anytime of the year ^.^ too bad you don't like it I guess :shrug:

I've never done it but I can see why it's popular (and I could see myself doing it). I like it especially when done by people who look just like the characters they're playing. It's like taking a fictional character and bring said character to life in the real world. And besides, why take it so seriously? It's basically just modelling for fun

And that guy playing Itachi is just so wrong xd Though, as there are different types of characters there are those he could pull off better than most people
