why do people cosplay?

cosplayers are huge pieces of fail imo. can someone please tell what the point of it is?

they waste money on awkward looking clothing
then dress up
then take pictures with their fail buddies
and then they go home

dont tell me its like halloween (cuz thats for kids) or like a fancy dress party (because at least its a PARTY and theres cool people there)


cosplayers make me ashamed to like naruto or any manga, because i know they like it too

Because they just like pretending for one moment that they are the character. They often act out scenes on conventions and some of them look remarkably well like the character they are cosplaying. It's fun to them to pretend to be someone else for just a while.

Also most people make their costumes themselves; they only buy the wig and the shoes. Most of them sew their own clothes.

You don't have to like it, but don't bash on others that do like it. It's actually a very popular event on conventions. Lots of people like to take pictures with cosplayers, because they like the character they cosplay.

Because people have fun with it! I bet there's things the OP does in his life that we wouldn't agree with, so what. If they feel comfortable around the people who cosplay and feel like they have fun at those events, then there shouldn't be a problem with it. Everyone likes different things, stop being so narrow-minded and embrace other people for who they are and what they enjoy.

Wow, this is so backwards. I personally don't do it, but I have some respect for the really talented ones. From what I've noticed, girls are the best at cosplay; they can do both male and female characters and pull it off.
