I've never watched another girl pee, shared underwear with, kissed another, licked another, nor slept with another girl in my 22 years on this planet xD wherever you got that ideology, well. I've never come across it.

The safety in numbers thing, I don't know anything about the psychological research but I do know about real life experience. The same girl that scoffs at you while with her friends will think your hilarious if you can talk to her by herself. Not really safety in numbers, but group mentality does exist.
