So many people (especially Uchiha fans) seem to stereotype Uchihas mainly based on the big 4: Madara, Obito, Sasuke, Itachi
I have seen comments on this base such as:
"Uchihas tend to be a lot like Indra in personality, Obito was an anomaly"
"Uchihas inherit the solo"
"An Uchiha couldn't be a jinchuuriki because their emotional sides would make them give into the beasts hatred"
( long before her fight with Buntan) "Sarada is nothing like what an Uchiha should be (cool, collected, arrogant, calculative, etc...)"
(after her fight with Buntan) "She is a true Uchiha now"
etc...
The people who say this stuff don't seem to realize that there were many more way less prominent Uchihas (when I say less prominent, I mean both in and out of universe) in shinobi history.
What's worse, is that these people fail to realize just how much more special that Madara, Obito, and Sasuke are than most other Uchihas (when it comes to power and even personality to some degree).
Let's talk about some of these stereotypes:
1. "Uchihas tend to be like Indra. They are emo and arrogant other things."
My counter: I can name so many more Uchihas that were not like Indra.
Sarada
Shisui
Kagami
Mikoto
That elderly couple in the Uchiha district
Izumi
Fugaku (you may argue that staging a coup is Indra - like, but there is a difference. The Uchiha clan were wrongfully sectioned off from the village and accused of an attack that they did not carry out. Fugaku was just trying to defend his clan from genuine injustice. That is different from starting a centuries long war because "boo hoo papa didn't choose me to be the leader")
Itachi wasn't really Indra-like either to be honest.
etc...
This stereotype is made even worse when you realize that even the main ones (Madara, Obito and Sasuke) weren't "emo" or "evil" or anything like that at their base natures.
Madara was initially a nice boy that just wanted the warring to stop. He liked skipping rocks and was willing to befriend anyone regardless of clan (as evidenced by the fact that he befriended Hashirama).
He only started to display those stereotypical "Uchiha traits" because of the combination of a number of factors, which include:
The deaths of all of his brothers.
Tobirama snooping around, essentially preparing for his oppression of the Uchiha
Black Zetsu's manipulation via the stone tablet
Moving on to Obito: He was a kind boy with a heart of gold. He stopped at nothing to help the elderly or to save comrades. He was much like Naruto. Even with the Indra Asura comparisons, Obito was more like the Asura to Kakashi's Indra.
He only started to display the sterotypical qualities once he met Madara and once Rin died shortly thereafter.
Sasuke was an innocent young boy who looked up to his big brother and dreamed of joining the police force. He only changed when said brother murdered their entire family!
As you can see, those stereotypical qualities aren't even really "Uchiha" qualities. They are just qualities that arise in victims of circumstance.
Even worse, is the fact that two of the main Uchihas that these stereotypes are based upon...
are acutal reincarnations of Indra! It makes sense that those two in particular would be at least somewhat like Indra. These two are not a good basis to judge the whole clan on.
Stereotype number 2: "Uchihas solo"
My response: No! Madara solos. Obito solos. Sasuke solos. Itachi solos. Sarada solos.
The whole clan though? Well let's take a look shall we.
We only know of one opponent that Izuna Uchiha ever had: Tobirama Senju
Well how did that end up? It ended up with Izuna getting soloed and killed by Tobirama!
Does Izuna solo then? (by feats, because I know he had hype, but we know how that goes *cough cough Hiruzen*)
What about these fodders discussed on these wiki pages (they are all canon Uchihas by the way):
All we know them to have done in terms of combat feats is get beat up one sidedly by Itachi. Even if it was another Uchiha that beat them up, if these 3 had the famed solo qualities, then you would think that they could at least match Itachi, and they actually should have beaten him since it was 3 on 1. Do they portray the Uchiha solo qualities?
Did Kagami show the Uchiha solo qualities? There was only one chance for us to see him potentially offer to fight, and that was against the Kinkaku force. Yet Kagami stayed silent, and it was Hiruzen, and then Tobirama that offered to go. If Uchihas automatically solo, then why didn't Kagami go (or at least offer)? Why didn't he protest Hiruzen's claim that he was the strongest one there?
Even for someone as hyped as Shisui, what solos does he have?
We know Danzou was able to take his right eye.
Apparently he and Itachi also got beat up by some old byakugan guy in Itachi Shinden (someone else may know more about that than me though since I don't have access to that book).
I see him getting soloed, but where are his solos?
Do you see what I mean by the stereotyping?
Why don't people just fan (or hate) specific Uchihas, instead of singing the praises of the whole clan when we only know those praises to be true for about 5 (out of thousands)?
This is why I always say that I am a fan of Madara, Obito, Sasuke, and Sarada has been growing on me, but you will never hear me say that I am an Uchiha fan.
What are your thoughts on this matter?
