Why do fans ridicule characters for being in pain?

A prime example of what I mean in the title's question is the fact that some people call Sasuke "emo" and annoying. I have seen people say this stuff for a very long time (from before he learner the truth about Itachi all the way to now). They say that he is just emo and they ridicule him, but is there anything wrong with being scarred by the fact that your whole family was murdered before your very eyes when you were a young child? Dismissing him as emo is like telling a holocaust survivor that is still traumatised to just get over it!

Things like this aren't things that everybody can just get over! Some people are even mentally scarred for life after a rape (even if no death is involved), and we are talking about geonicide here! If someone came and slaughtered your family, would you just get over it like it was nothing?

Now some people might bring up people like Kakashi and Naruto that have suffered without going on a path of revenge, but that is really irrelevant. Just because some people are fine with their families being killed and having nothing done about it, doesn't mean that everyone is! People have different ideologies! Not everyone finds life to be worth living if you just have to get over it and let injustice happen! Some people want some justice to be done in response to injustice! That doesn't make them "emo" or "salty" as some people might say. Sasuke was justified in his desire to kill Itachi, his desire to kill some of Konoha's elders (like Danzo) and his desire to become homage and change society for the better.

Some people don't like the fact that Sasuke has changed his mind a few times, but some of you people act like finding out that the massacre of everyone you loved was the result of secret discrimination from the place you cared about and called your home, is just some light hearted little factoid that should just be disregarded and should warrant an immediate choice about how you should feel!

I guess if someone comes and kills your family you'll just take it with a grain of salt huh?

Other such examples of this recipiants of this ridicule include Madara and Obito. Every one of Madara's brothers (and presumably his parents) were taken away from him in a war that he was simply born into and had no option on whether or not he wanted to take part in it. Obito already never knew his parents (indicating that his family was also taken away from him at an early age)! Then he gets seperated from all of his friends for awhile while he has to recooperate in mountain's graveyard! When he finally comes back, he witnesses the brutal death of the one person he truly loved and who cared for him!

Can you blame these two for trying to change the world for the better?!

Once again, many people may say something like "Kakashi suffered and he never started a war".
This is true, but there is one problem to this statement:
Kakashi never did anything about the injustice, and therefore he still remained within the shinobi system that brought him so much suffering! Think about it: Kakashi took the path of endurance after Obito supposedly died, and what did this endurance do to solve the world's problems? Nothing! All endurance did was continue the shinobi system and lead to Kakashi losing Rin next!

Kakashi continued to endure even after Rin's death. What did that get him? Nothing! Minato was killed shortly after! Enduring and getting over the pain did nothing to help prevent future deaths like that of Minato!

That is the problem with the whole "get over it" belief! Getting over it does nothing to actually change things!

Some people don't just want to get over it! Some people want change!

Characters like Madara, Obito and Sasuke don't deserve all the ridicule they get! They are just shinobi who have seen the injustice that this world can do and who want to change the world as a result!

Because everyone hate Sasuke.

Tobirama is better. Everyone love Tobirama. His family died and he did stuff and didn't go emo.

It was a long rant but I agree with most of what you said.

I'd have to say unless you can relate to their pain and you have a good life where nothing's wrong, you won't understand it. People judge people because they've yet to experience it. Others judge them because they did experience it but didn't react like Sasuke for example. I've been through Sakura's pain with Sasuke so I can relate to her. I haven't been through Sasuke's and though I sympathize I would most likely not have gone his route so his attitude annoys me. Why? Because I'm not him.

Its more about a character's attitude and how they handled the pain they went through.
Madara and Obito tried to change the war and killed a lot of people, while Sasuke wanted to destroy the leaf at a point in time.
Some people think they are justified and sympathize with them, while others think they are unjustified and whiny.

I don't think it's wrong for Sasuke to want revenge or avenge his clan. I just don't like the way he goes about it. It's not the concept of it that bothers me, just the means in which he desires to better the world.

It's not going to change the world for the better if Madara and Obito enslaved everyone in Infinite Tsukiyomi, the peace would just be an illusion and they would be in control of it. They would just be ignoring reality. At one point in the manga, Sasuke wanted to get revenge by destroying everyone in Konoha. He wanted to kill 1000s, even innocents just because he felt he had been wronged by a few old geezers. He didn't care that no one else had anything to do with it. That was wrong. Luckily, Sasuke no longer wants to do that though and we don't know his new method on how he plans to bring peace to the shinobi world and avenge his clan. Madara, Obito, and Sasuke are all working for a good cause at the end of the day, but they are just completing their goals in morally questionable ways. That's why they receive ridicule. But do they receive all the ridicule they get? No not really.

When Kakashi didn't see revenge like countless other shinobi have, it just proved that he was above forcing others to feel his pain. It just showed that he was mentally-strong and had the cappacity to deal with it.

People have been calling Sasuke emo since his first appearance back in ch3. It's not anything new, people called him that even before they knew his goals. They just say that based on his arrogant personality and the way he looks. But you shouldn't take people who say that seriously, I think it's quite evident that he's not.

Tobirama did more than Sasuke without crying a lot. He was hokage and made many justu and loved his brother to. He is a better example

True statement, but Tobirama didn't exactly bring about peace either. In fact he was a good portion of the source of Sasuke and the Uchiha clan's pain!
My point is, getting over it doesn't always make stuff better. Some people want to make actual beneficial change.

I agree with this too. Some people consider other characters more relateable than Sasuke, so that's probably why he receives hate. Most people think that they wouldn't have gone the same route that he did.

He gave the Uchiha power through the Police Force and they accepted the role. He did that in order to preserve the balance of power in Konoha. The Uchiha accepted the role and even rejected their own clan leader, Madara, when he attempted to convince them to leave Konoha and join him instead. The Uchiha clan actually chose Tobirama over Madara during the generation. The only Uchiha Tobirama personally brought pain to was Madara, the others not so much.

The problems with the Uchiha clan mainly occured during Hiruzen's reign. Back in Tobirama's days, they weren't even under surveillance and most were okay with their role.

Very well spoken. Anyway, the concept of what is "real" and what is not is subjective. If you experience it then it is your reality. It doesn't matter if it is not in this 4d realm of existence. As long as you can stay alive and feel yourself enjoying life, it doesn't matter if the world is technically a dream. I do agree that having Madara rule wouldn't be the best, but that is only because he is the villain (so he would obviously go power crazy instead of trying to bring peace).
In theory however, the infinite tsukuyomi is a great idea!

I also agree with you that Sasuke shouldn't have gone after Konoha citizens that were innocent. That is why I only said that he was justified in going after some elders (and not all of Konoha).

Anyway, sorry I can't debate for long. I have to do my homework now, but it was nice discussing this.

If Sasuke existed in our world and was on the news for his crimes he would be judged by the people negatively and thrown in jail. It's a normal reaction to view his path as the bad one due to how we perceive the real world, but if you are into criminology you might have a deeper understanding of his mind, or a teen suffering in a similar way. Having a family member suddenly kill your family is not impossible and I've seen it more than once in the news.

Killer Bee is even better. Nobody in the village liked him, his best friend tried to kill, his brother was caging him in the village, his father and cousin died, but he moved on and isn't always *****ing about it
