A prime example of what I mean in the title's question is the fact that some people call Sasuke "emo" and annoying. I have seen people say this stuff for a very long time (from before he learner the truth about Itachi all the way to now). They say that he is just emo and they ridicule him, but is there anything wrong with being scarred by the fact that your whole family was murdered before your very eyes when you were a young child? Dismissing him as emo is like telling a holocaust survivor that is still traumatised to just get over it!
Things like this aren't things that everybody can just get over! Some people are even mentally scarred for life after a rape (even if no death is involved), and we are talking about geonicide here! If someone came and slaughtered your family, would you just get over it like it was nothing?
Now some people might bring up people like Kakashi and Naruto that have suffered without going on a path of revenge, but that is really irrelevant. Just because some people are fine with their families being killed and having nothing done about it, doesn't mean that everyone is! People have different ideologies! Not everyone finds life to be worth living if you just have to get over it and let injustice happen! Some people want some justice to be done in response to injustice! That doesn't make them "emo" or "salty" as some people might say. Sasuke was justified in his desire to kill Itachi, his desire to kill some of Konoha's elders (like Danzo) and his desire to become homage and change society for the better.
Some people don't like the fact that Sasuke has changed his mind a few times, but some of you people act like finding out that the massacre of everyone you loved was the result of secret discrimination from the place you cared about and called your home, is just some light hearted little factoid that should just be disregarded and should warrant an immediate choice about how you should feel!
I guess if someone comes and kills your family you'll just take it with a grain of salt huh?
Other such examples of this recipiants of this ridicule include Madara and Obito. Every one of Madara's brothers (and presumably his parents) were taken away from him in a war that he was simply born into and had no option on whether or not he wanted to take part in it. Obito already never knew his parents (indicating that his family was also taken away from him at an early age)! Then he gets seperated from all of his friends for awhile while he has to recooperate in mountain's graveyard! When he finally comes back, he witnesses the brutal death of the one person he truly loved and who cared for him!
Can you blame these two for trying to change the world for the better?!
Once again, many people may say something like "Kakashi suffered and he never started a war".
This is true, but there is one problem to this statement:
Kakashi never did anything about the injustice, and therefore he still remained within the shinobi system that brought him so much suffering! Think about it: Kakashi took the path of endurance after Obito supposedly died, and what did this endurance do to solve the world's problems? Nothing! All endurance did was continue the shinobi system and lead to Kakashi losing Rin next!
Kakashi continued to endure even after Rin's death. What did that get him? Nothing! Minato was killed shortly after! Enduring and getting over the pain did nothing to help prevent future deaths like that of Minato!
That is the problem with the whole "get over it" belief! Getting over it does nothing to actually change things!
Some people don't just want to get over it! Some people want change!
Characters like Madara, Obito and Sasuke don't deserve all the ridicule they get! They are just shinobi who have seen the injustice that this world can do and who want to change the world as a result!
