I mean, that probably depends on your upbringing. If you're raised to believe in the value of marriage, then you'll probably be insulted, but I know bastards who weren't raised to really believe that and they wouldn't be insulted.

Financial leverage. The couple can have children which is a plus for each individual child come income tax filing. Pretty popular in young couples especially those that cannot afford a wedding in the first place. And another reason is some people simply don't care too much for marriage not just because they find it pointlessly stupid but the price of one is stupidly expensive

I've never known anyone to get insulted by it.

It's never been seen as an insult where i grew up, Just something fun to call each other from time to time for jokes.
