If you're going to be hypocritical, than Christians or Muslims saying "Oh my god" is blasphemy.

Blasphemy is saying you yourself are God. For example: "I'm God." That's blasphemy.
And I don't see anything wrong with singing "Oh my God" in a song or something like that. xd

For the most part, yes. That's why I personally say, "Oh my gosh". It's not irreverent and it's a viable option as opposed to, "Oh my God".

A word has as much meaning as you allow it to have. Simply don't mind it, and you're cool. This thread makes sense only to simpletons.

Actually it is wrong for anyone to say gods name in vain but if you say oh my God as though your calling out for him then its not in vain because your not just saying it to say it
That's how a lot of Christians use the word so it would be completely backwards and disrespectful if an atheist said it

It's not very common that Christians mean it in a non expressive way. It's exactly the same as "aw crap" or "damn it."

Both you and the OP have a point. However, it is the societys usage of "Oh my God" that is improper usage of the Lords name. There are some contexts, that it can be used, without useing the Lords name in vane.

That's blasphemy because it undermines the church's influence. We are god. One of the fundamental teachings of the church is to look at god as something external. Keep at it if you want. Ignorance is a choice in this age of reasoning and information.

Cause it's an phrase that's it used in general in many occasions to show surprise,frustration,distress etc,etc.
It's an idiom everybody learn from a young age and use it due to social and environmental influences.
