Well wouldn't a Christian saying "Oh my God" count as improper usage of the Lord's name? =P

Whether or not any given person believes that, I feel like it's just become a very common saying in society. But who knows for sure!

Just my thoughts. =]

"oh my god" has become a well-known phrase. (foreign people like, chinese and japanese use that term out of humour) people use the term un-religiously, but people say a bunch of crazy stuff these days. it's normal in my opinion. we are capable of using our mouths for a reason, no? i say its just harmless emotional-expression.

<div class="bbWrapper">It is a modern Idiom devoid of meaning, the same way Atheists celebrate christmas without belief, it's apart of our culture.</div>

For the most part, yes. That's why I personally say, "Oh my gosh". It's not irreverent and it's a viable option as opposed to, "Oh my God".

Actually it is wrong for anyone to say gods name in vain but if you say oh my God as though your calling out for him then its not in vain because your not just saying it to say it
That's how a lot of Christians use the word so it would be completely backwards and disrespectful if an atheist said it
