There's a number of reasons, but some do call Naruto a scumbag because when Sakura claimed to no longer love Sasuke he tells her "I hate people who lie to themselves!". Yet, according to Sakura in The Last, Naruto's love for her was only due to rivalry with Sasuke and that his feelings for Hinata were more deep and true.
