Why didn't Itachi kill orochimaru when he solo'd him neg diff with gen? Surely itachi knew oro was an S class criminal and a major threat to konoha, if he truly wished to protect konoha why not kill oro? What if oro succeeded in destroying konoha in the process killing sasuke? Itachi's life and everything he did during massacre would have been meaningless.

He used him to make Sasuke stronger. Seeing as Itachi basically had clairvoyance, he knew Orochimaru wouldn't succeed with his plans.

Hey, you asked a question and I gave the correct answer to it, not my problem if you're going to deny it.
If i recall itachi never wanted oro's influence over sasuke, he was surprised during their fight oro had a hold on him. Thats why he totsuka'd oro or atleast attempted to.

Look at all these faptard excuses. Any logical member with brains care to post?
Faptard of who exactly? 'Cause neither Itachi nor Oro are in my Top 10 faves.

If you actually had the ability to read, you would have recognized that I praised both Itachi and Orochimaru in that post.

Such a hurr durr.

:| In the end, he only failed. :|

Orochimaru was part of Akatsuki at the time. Itachi didn't want to kill him because then he would have to deal with Akatsuki/Obito (Madara/Tobi).

Because Orochimaru had already done his, he couldn't make Sasuke stronger any more. That's why he totsuka'd that fodder.

The moment oro was trapped in the gen, itachi could've easily killed him.

Yeah, he prevented a war, saved Naruto, made Sasuke one of the two strongest ninja in the world and undone Edo Tensei for the fodder shinobi alliance, you're right, he only failed.

False, Kakuzu stated that he had killed several of his earlier partners, he's still alive and well. Why would he even assume Tobi would do anything?

Not without great difficulty.

Orochimaru can counter his arsenal up until the point where aforementioned tires. Physical attacks/Amaterasu have been countered with Orochimaru-Ryu Kawarimi and using Tsukuyomi alone wouldn't be enough to finish him, taking Shirohebi no Chikara into account.

If Itachi had killed orochimaru, then everyone in the manga would've died. /thread lol

But seriously, they would've all died. The fact that so many characters were morally ambiguous by staying between good and bad/right and wrong is what made the manga great. A villian in one arc became a hero in another. Characters/villians were always redeeming themselves or falling from grace.

So it's not quite as simplistic as just killing bad guys. I think kishi did a great job making the manga more than good vs bad. It really was about the fact that everybody and anybody can be both good and bad. This is tnj became so important. This is why understanding became so important.

If a lot of the villians were killed off, then the world would've lost. Everybody was needed to save the world in the end.

Except neji!=D
