Why didn't the Akatsuki capture Naruto when he was little?

I have always wondered this question...

Why didn't Obito capture Naruto when he was just a kid?

Was it because of Plot no Jutsu? I mean if they did take Naruto, there would be 'no' manga today.

Or was it because they were waiting for Nagato to perfect the Nine Phantin Dragon Sealing Jutsu?

Or perhaps they didn't have the strength to do so? But I doubt that since the Akatsuki had more than enough man power to capture Naruto at that time. Sure, Kakashi, Jiraiya, and Hiruzen was looking after him when he was little, but still the Akatsuki should have not been afraid of them. I mean even if they were, Obito could have just easily warp in Konoha and steal Naruto without getting caught by the barrier that the Leaf had set up.

So why didn't they do it? We all know Obito is very patient... but anyway what are your thoughts on this?

For me, I'm heading towards Plot no Jutsu.

pretty much plot for you, they could have ended it long ago, even itachi and kisame could, but then again uchiha was supposedly secretly a good guy so that wasn't the case....but def..if they had attacked during part one, konoha would be useless....their best shot would be jiraya and he would lose

it's basically a plot no jutsu but reasons can be given
here are my assumptions
# naruto was constantly under watch of hiruzen and secretly being protected under high security
# obito was injured for long time
# there can be other reasons itachi on the guard
# right after hiruzens death naruto became mobile withy ziraiya
# the extraction jutsu needs more people + 3 days straight
and probaly the most important cause
# if they have captured naruto first konoha would cause them trouble and they will fail to get other bijuu (as stated by itachi)

The beasts had to be sealed in order of their tail.

the akat had 2-3 goals before they would capture the tailed beast, as they need to make enough ryo so they took low paying missions

the kyuubi had to be sealed last. If they had captured Naruto early, then the strongest village would be on their case. that means Hiruzen, the sannin, kakashi etc. remember that they had to capture eight other tailed beasts too. being subtle was the key to their success, the villages didn't give a crap until bee was captured. but imagine if the villages had banded together against akatsuki from the start, that's a whole different story.

Like how people have stated above. The akatsuki needed to collect and extract the other bijuu's before the extraction of the kyuubi.

Tbh, in the normal series i don't think akatsuki was fully formed/ didn't have proper purpose ya know? Like with the members we know as today :

= Kakuzu, Hidan, Deidara, Itachi, Tobi, Zetsu, Kisame, Sasori, Nagato. They all entered the Akatsuki at different times. Hmm!!​

Something about there having to be an order. But weren't there already a few beasts sealed before they got Shukaku?

Naruto was also travelling with Jiraiya. Itachi and Kisame together, could have done away with him but since Itachi was a good guy he probably made it out to Kisame that he was stronger than the both of them and that they should wait until he's out of the way.
