Why didnt madara just use zetsu?

Are you dumb? Isn't spiral zetsu soloing an army right now?

Spiral Zetsu likely has Yamato and his power inside him and he possesses little intelligence. The Zetsus are stated to be watered down clones of Hashirama with little chakra, skill or power. Spiral Zetsu would also not possess kamui, which Madara likely sensed in Obito's eyes and wanted to use.

Spiral zetsu IS strong and ofcourse they can use rinne tensei they are alive even if they are clones.

So why didn't they just use Nagato's spare eye and do it themselves instead of forcing Obito? Doesn't sound like they could.


And Zetsu on their own are weak, it is only when they bear a host are they powerful. Most people suspect that Spiral Zetsu is occupying Yamato, one of the few that bear Hashi DNA, increasing the overall power of Zetsu.

That was just a stroke of luck on their part.

Zetsu isn't strong enough to wield it. Both Nagato and Obito were Uzumaki and had infused Hashi's cells into his body respectively. So both had huge amounts of chakra, Obito was even able to control six jins simultaneously.

I realize Zetsu is also made of Hashi's cells but he has next to no chakra

He would be better off giving the rinnegan to zetsu because all 3 have senju DNA.

The big problem is that they are too weak in a sense to use any Justu without an individual as a medium.

Spiral zetsu couldn't use Hashirama's Justu without Yamato inside

Black zetsu can't use any Justu on his own

White zetsu can't use produce any branches/roots, only the basic spores clone/healing abilities/mayfly that come from mokuton tissues.
(Danzo's a better mokuton user than him).

White zetsu needs black zetsu to produce mokuton on a little root level.

He can't use the rinnegan without controlling somebody implanted with the rinnegan
