It's like they forget that you can kill someone by stabbing them. Kakashi was like 'oh shit I need to use a non-sharingan attack what do I do? hm I know I'll use one of my favorites of the 1000 techs I have supposedly learned' and then punched him.

I mean, most op ninja would die from a kunai to the head. Minato, itachi, sasuke all would die from a simple stab to the head or gut.

It wouldn't have had to kill obito. Kakashi was sliced open with TWO giant shurikens and that didn't stop the plot from moving forward with kakashi on the front lines.
