Why didn't Itachi just kill Danzo?

Shisui is stronger than Itachi and Shisui got beat by Danzo so my guess is Itachi was scared of Danzo knowing he can easily trap him in Shisui genjutsu

Because that would have been the most moronic thing to do in the situation. The Uchiha are suspected for the Kyuubi attack and the village is on edge since all of them barring 5 yr old Itachi and infant Sasuke weren't there that night when they were supposed to be. The Uchiha heir killing a respected Konoha elder means instant war.

Kiling danzo would not have prevented the uchiha coupe all would happen he would have killed danzo and there would have still been a civil war the only way to avoid that war was to reach a resolution with the uchiha which was impossible

danzo is responsible for most of konohas problems.

He didn't kill the clan because he wanted to kill them. He killed them because doing so would save the Uchiha's reputation, many people's lives (Sasuke's included), and Konoha itself. Killing Danzo would have been selfish.

The Uchiha aren't going to accept a kid as Hokage, no matter who he is. They would have picked Fugaku, and the village would be against it. War was unavoidable.

the uchiha will have to accept it or they will die. they know how strong itachi is.
the village being against it is not the uchihas problem. they are going to have to accept fugaku or be declared treasonous coup conspirators.
war was very avoidable in a number of ways and methods.

if he had two choices for peace then obviously the one with less deaths would be better for a pacifist.
he had hundreds of choices and picked the one with the most immediate deaths. the whole "a war will start" is purely speculation. itachi had no actual proof how many people would die in the coup or what would indirectly happen. a war could start just as easily because of the genocide and konoha losing its strongest clan.
a pacifist means you hate hurting people, even at the cost of your own life, and would probably kill yourself in shame and despair if you went through with a genocide like this.

Itachi is loyal and won't kill a konoha shinobi outside of a mission, well IMO that is. He never was a criminal, it was an act.

itachi is evil, and would kill or torture anyone and everyone if it suited his ends. he could and has tried to murder konoha shinobis unjustly in cold blood.
