And yet Kakashi showed Naruto no affection/favor out of respect for his master (Minato). Kakashi knew Naruto was weak and essentially a lost cause. It's why he focused on Sasuke. He knew Sasuke had the potential to become a great shinobi and strove to sharpen his best student.

Kakashi admitted he didn't really start to like Naruto till the rasen shuriken training.

All that is well articulated but your missing somethings.

1. Kakashi didn't show any of his student's any affection because he in fact didn't want to a lead team.

2. He focused on Sasuke because of his sharingan (something Kakashi possessed) and the potential it had (controlling the 9tails).

3. Kakashi never favored Sasuke, he just had more to teach him because of their commonalities (both ninjutsu/personality wise).

4. Like most people that you part 1 Naruto initially encountered, Kakashi yes was annoyed by his overwhelming personality and boisterous tone that was the exact opposite of his and Minato's.

5. Kakashi never deemed Naruto as weak or a lost cause but he did elaborate on his shortcomings.

6. Kakashi was one of the first people to believe in Naruto (after Iruka).

Kakashi writing Naruto off more in the sense in his doubt about Naruto's abilities. Like when Naruto learned the rasengan. Kakashi was was shocked to learn Naruto could perfrom such a high level jutsu. He even berated Jiraiya for teaching it to him. Saying Naruto wasn't ready for it. Juxapose that scene to a scene a few chapters earlier when Naruto asks to learn chidori and Kakashi handwaves away the idea.

Kakashi knew Naruto's shortcomings but at the same time did nothing to try to correct them. Pawning Naruto off on Ebisu and later Jiraiya opted (or was rather coerced by Naruto) to train him. Outside of the water/tree walking, Kakashi really didn't teach Naruto or Sakura anything.

Also Kakashi never taught Sasuke to control his sharingan out of intent to control the Kyubi. Sasuke learned that on his own while he was with Orochimaru. Kakashi taught him (presumably) how to utilize it in battle to read and react to high speed movements.

Again, tell me when Kakashi wrote him off as a weakling and someone with no potential.

I've never said that Kakashi never castes any doubt about Naruto abilities or become frustrated with his growth rate.

Again, Kakashi didn't have the patience nor the tools to teach as a result of being the complete opposite.

Where as Jiraiya could control Naruto and reach him, Jiraiya also was closer to Minato to add.

Also Kakashi never taught Sasuke to control his sharingan out of intent to control the Kyubi. Sasuke learned that on his own while he was with Orochimaru. Kakashi taught him (presumably) how to utilize it in battle to read and react to high speed movements.

I never said he training Sasuke to control the Kyubi, I mean that he Kakashi was put with Sasuke to ensure that his sharnigan wouldn't be used to control the Kyubi like it was by Obito during Naruto's birth.

I don't recall Minato having any interactions with Hiruzen before death... Please enlighten me.

Its stated in the wiki he communicated this wish in the presence of Hiruzen who was the only present when he made Naruto the Jin

Just like how Shikamaru vowed to take care of and mentor Asuma's unborn child, Kakashi and Hiruzen should have done the same. Don't know why Hiruzen didn't raise him.

Even better, why didn't Jiraya take him into his care from the start.

Literally plot prevented Naruto from having anyone in his childhood.
