For me, it didn’t go downhill from there. It went downhill the moment Madara was Rinne Tensei-ed.

Pain Arc was the highest moment for not only the manga, but for the main character as-well. What ruined it was the Naruto-Sasuke dynamic, and the War Arc.

BZ killing Madara was the tip of the iceberg.

For many, the war arc was the worst thing in Naruto because it involved alot of asspulls and inconsistencies. Like OP characters getting nerfed, inconvenient plotholes forming along with other stuff. U_U

I Agree with thanos, jj shoulda never happened, why? because of the hype kishi put in to the juubi, a serious jj should be able to easily kill all his opponents quickly. As soon as JJ obito was brought out i knew obito was going to be nerfed. i don't understand why obito didn't just kill naruto and sasuke instead of just flying around talking garbage.

Look at madara too, another perfect example, Pre jj madara quickly took care of all his enemies, but as soon as he became JJ, he decided to play around, literally having all his jutsus stripped from him in a super nerf.

Hagoromo should of stayed the only JJ, i rather it stayed a legend than having super nerfed villians.

I disagree when JJ was introduced manga went down.
Fully agreed. Powerups where high enough right after madara was revived as a human again.
He solod all 9 bijuu the manga was great. Untill he became waayyy too powerfull people had to get another powerup .

After madara v 9 bijuus it went down hill for me

I think it went down after the defeat of juubito because after that the power scaling was obscene. the manga got stagnant up until Obito's declaration of war on the ninja war. then the only Demi God tier ninja were Madara and DSM Kabuto which was okay as power scaling was still pretty good and the awe at Madara's abilities was amazing especially the uproar about Madara's Perfect Susano scaling reached it's height during juubito as we actually got a godlike opponent but after him the power scaling was ridiculous

so neg-diffing all Bijuu and making Naruto and Sasuke fans cry isn't powerful enough?

Yeah Hashirama should remain strongest shinobi. Juubi was also wasted in the end.

Only good thing for me is 8 Gates Guy.

I go into this in alot more depth in a thread I made a while back which you can find { }.

But the short answer is after the pain arc you begin to see large progressions in power that broke the proverbial 4th wall. Throughout the series Kage level was as strong as someone could get and everyone was compared to it, "Ok Zabuza is good but I dont think he is Kage Level, ok Sasori is good but I dont think he is Kage Level, ok Diedara is good but I dont think he is Kage level."

But towards the end Kage level lost all meaning, We see Pain destroying entire villages single handedly, Madara beating 5 Kages and the entire shinobi alliance without breaking a sweat, the Juubi, etc... Out of nowhere we had these large unwarranted progressions in power that we didnt understand.

I go into this in alot more depth in the thread if you want to read it.

Went downhill with Obito's reveal IMO. Oibito is a good character, but Tobi/Madara had so much potential.

Pain is an exception because he was God
and I didn't like how things went after Pain arc because it was rushed
