Why did Sasuke defeat Naruto???

Okay guys, I know this is a question from an old episode, but whenever Naruto was chasing Sasuke to try and bring him back from Orochimaru, and they fought at the waterfall, why the heck did Naruto lose?

Sasuke simply got the upper hand in that fight. It had much with timing, condition and luck and their power were equal but as said Sasuke was more lucky in that fight.
