Orochimaru was a scientist, he asked "why" instead of swallowing answers. He wanted more than being immortal; he wanted to obtain all the techniques and knowledge not just "living forever". He was fascinated with life cycle when he talked to Kimimaro he said purpose in life is to find something to be interested in and pursuing it (not in these words obviously).

He did not want immortality because he was afraid to die someday; being immortal was a tool to him not his grand aim. If someone lives forever they can have time to find more answers and can learn the mystery behind life by being immortal.

He would not blindly follow a religion. He is not like that nor his aim was not to be dead. Immortality Jashin offered is not the type of immortality Orochimaru would want.

It is like asking why a quantum physicist gives his/her lifetime to figure out where the universe came from whilw s/he could believe in God and get an answer.

Maybe because the goddamn ritual one has to peform everyday
I believe I read somewhere that the sacrifice ritual Hidan did, actually needs to be performed regularly to remain immortal. That explains why so few others would be Jashinists. As far as Orochimaru goes, I don't think he'd want his immortality to depend on the whim of some higher power, as he wants to be the ultimate power himself.
Okay these are both false.

I asked this way back lol
Funny thing is I actually replied to that post and gave the answer most people are giving to me here 0_o. I don't remember that thread at all 0_0.

Maybe because Jashin only accepted Hidan.
I think this might be closest to the answer. However you want to spin it, perhaps one cannot simply 'pick up Jashinism'. Most likely you have to be chosen to receive it. In that case, its likely considered to be more of a curse than anything else.

Hidan couldn't live forever, which is what orochimaru really wanted. Hidan can't be killed by the simple separation of Head and Neck, but could die of old age or Malnutrition. Orochimaru wanted to be immune to old age, hence constantly stealing 12 year old uchiha bodys. Anyway Orochimaru was bloody hard to kill. Naruto cut him in half and he walked it off.
I tend to disagree. Dying of malnutrition and dying of old age are not the same thing. An immortal still has to eat, they just don't age. The manga literally agrees with the fact he's IMMORTAL which means he never dies from natural aging causes. He's also invinsible but not impenetrable.
