Madara wants to control the world..he can't do that if he's running around as someone's puppet. Edo tensai is to risky. The plan was to revive Madara when they had all 8 tailed beast so I don't think it made a difference if he was revived back to his old man state.

I seriously doubt he would have been revived back into his old man state; though. Why would you bring somebody back to life at the moment when they are going to die again? That would be kind of stupid. It's like giving someone with a failing heart a transplant of another failing heart.

I think Obito's supressed memories of 'thanking' Madara will come to the surface, which will trigger Obito's babyface turn(to use a wrestling term lol)

Very simple he wanted to come back as his original self with nobody controlling him.
