Why did Itachi tell Sasuke to kill his BF?

Ok so why did Itachi tell Sasuke that in order to get the same eyes he had to kill his best friend? Obviously that wasn't true because Itachi really didn't kill his best friend... Was it all part of the ruse to keep up his image? Or did it really have significance?

When Itachi said that, the series had just begun. Im sure it that was the initial intentions that Kishi had, but by the time he had started expanding his story in part 2, he changed it to allow the characters to progress.

well I wouldn't say Kakashi has a MS.. its not the same one as Itachi u know..plus I really think Itachi killed him.. but shisui ask him to do it..or maybe it was danzo..thats one of the things we will find out at the end hopefully..

yes i know but no mongekyou sharingan is the same.. in fact they are all different... except for some of the techniques... some of the techniques come with the MS.. but kakashi's is in fact a MS

and actually shisui asked itachi to hide his eye not to kill him... itachi then said he died silently... danzo took one of his eyes yes... i dunno how but he did.. and itachi the other one... and then he said shisui made it look like he destroyed his eyes and erased his exsistance...

yeah you are correct on that one.. if ur not of the uchiha and you have a sharingan you aren't supposed to be able to be as skilled as any of them with the sharingan let alone obtain the MS... so yes kakashi is exceptional.. lol..

if you are being literal then you are right.. cuz literally oro was closest to him... but in terms of love or care.. no.. you couldn't be more wrong... sasuke hated oro.. he put up with him to obtain power.. nothing more nothing less...

Yea, that what i mean, i think its whoever he had a trust for, its obvious, he trusted oro to the fact he would make him stronger, therefore made a bond with him, even if he knew he was gonna severe it, thats why i think he didnt kill naruto in the 1st one, becuz he had a bond with him he didnt wanna severe to get a new power, so he went 2 some1 he dont mind severing a bond with

Itachi told Sasuke about killing the person closest to him because he underestimated him thinking he could not find the other way to obtain his MS. And he was probably sure it would take longer and his illness would kill him by then and it would be too late. Also Sasuke mentioned in his battle with Naruto in the Valley of End, that the only reason he stayed so long was to eventually kill Naruto and obtain great power (the Mangekyo Sharingan). Although I digress on that because now we can clearly tell he was hiding his feelings for Naruto(the bond between two best friends not the the other... e.e).

actually it showed in the manga that they killed somebody to obtain MS but i don't think whoever they killed were friends...
