Why didn't he just use KA on Hiruzen, so he would give him the position of the Hokage? Or make him order someone to kill Sasuke if he knew he was trouble? I always wondered.

may be he wanted to keep his promise but when sasuke betrayed the village and joined hands with orochimaru
hiruzen was already dead, & danzou took actions against sasuke only after his betrayal.

1. You didn't answer the question. You just dodged it. It's a fact Danzo wanted to be Hokage. It's a fact that Danzo's KA could have effectively made that so. Explain why he didn't.

KA on Hiruzen probably would have worked, but theres a chance that someone else would have noticed a problem in Hiruzen's decision.

He did order Sasuke's death. Its called Sai.

1. okay, I disagree but I'll allow that interpenetration of his character. It's a shame Danzo's character was never explored while Hiruzen was alive

Well to be fair a byakugan user saw through the genjutsu, and the Hyuuga clan lives in Konoha after all. It won't work that quickly but imagine somebody just happened to see it? I'm assuming Danzo doesn't want to cause chaos among the Leaf population with the idea of the Hokage being manipulated. This is all speculation though ._.
