Why complaints about "Destiny" and "Child of Prophecy" are irrelevant
Welp, came across a thread where this was a common complaint (and I talked about it there as well, people just aren't there right now, so no "why didn't you say it there crap).
People have this common complaint that the Naruto series butchered itself by introducing a prophecy. Basically, they're saying that Naruto was "destined" to save the world, and as such, "overcoming destiny" was thrown out the window. I'm here to tell you that this is wrong, and what people overlook in order to justify their personal dislike for the Naruto series.
First off, I'll refute the prophecy argument. There's one tiny little detail people overlook when they talk about the prophecy. (conveniently for their argument's sake)
"He'll either finally bring piece to the world, or utterly destroy it."
This right here, is what's ignored in favor of the complaints. Naruto wasn't destined to save jack. Naruto was predicted to have a choice that would determine the fate of the world. Nothing else. He had equal opportunity to fail as much to succeed. Nothing guaranteed that Naruto would succeed. It was Naruto, and not destiny, that saved the world.
Naruto also did overcome destiny by solving the feud between Indra and Ashura.
So please, to those who use this argument, just accept that the Naruto series doesn't, or had become to not align with your tastes and don't invent inconsistencies to excuse your dislike. It just gets annoying for those of us who pay attention to the details when you use this. We're not going to rage if you lost interest.
