[Debate] Why cant 18 year olds drink alcohol?

I live in the U.S. too. I should have been more clear in that post. I should have said ages 16-18 are when they try to get their license. At least that's how people around me are. Either way, I think it's just to try to prevent drunk driving. I believe 21 is a good age, but I wish it could be banned, but when it was banned in the past it didn't work that well.

As long as you don't go overboard, nothing wrong with a bit of alcohol now and again. 18 is the age in the UK and I think it's good. But obviously you get some people who are under this age drinking, as you do in other places.

since we are from same country you should know that even a child can buy alcohol easily and use it, you can find it anywhere :shrug: , imo alcohol is not healthy for you, no matter how old you are

Increasing the age does not reduce drinking or it's ill effects. What it does is make it forbidden. This means that young people have no exposure and are not educated early on about drinking responsibly.
The law also says you cant download episodes of tv shows on the internet....guess you should get off this site now

If you forbid a kid to do something, like in this case drink or even smoke, that is going to make that kid want it more to know what is it like.
My dad give me a smoke when I was around 8-10 years, it was so grose for me I never wanted it again!
The same with the drinking, but I still drink! I only dink when I'm with friends on holidays or weddings, something like that. But to drink every day, just like a soda, I would prefer the soda!

I noticed. I already know a lot of people drink alcohol when they're not old enough. But lowering it won't do any good, either. If it's at 16, then people like, 13-15 might start drinking.
I could care less about the age of alcohol drinking, I just don't want people driving under the influence. I put on drunk goggles before; it was awful! xd I had to try to catch a ball, but that did not work at all. I know some don't get drunk on purpose, it's just that they don't know their limits.

In the United States, you cannot drink alcohol at the age of 18 because back during the era of prohibition,when the drinking age was 18, there were alot of fatal accidents by Intoxicated Young Adults.
