This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. of all people, you pick Armin? I'd rather believe it's Hitch before I believe it's Armin. More importantly, I don't think it's a shifter at all. It seems more like an Abnormal. Why does it have to be a shifter? I don't see the titan shift lightning anywhere in the scans, just the chaos from Reiner tossing a titan.

Never thought about it that way... EPIC PLOT TWIST!!!
Wonder how Eren would react when/if he finds out...
TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE TITAN SHIFTERS!
Four or Five would be nice... Not 6 or more! Let alone within the same age group alone.

No, I highly doubt he's a titan shifter but even if he is he is definately not that one for one simple reason.

All titan shifters that have shown up so far still have the same hair and eye color as they did in their human form, yet the hair color of that titan is brown and it has black eyes. Only exception is the armored titan which has white hair but the difference in hair color for that one is not that big as the shifter himself has extremely light hair o-o

Then there's the part where the bodies of human titans look alot more advanced then the body of any regular titan or deviant, this one looks just like any other ordinary titan plus the only feature it shares with Armin is the hair(which is the wrong color), the facial features are completely off.

Eren looks nothing like his titan.

I don't think (Hope) It's (not) Armin.. That would kinda ruin it for me since we now already have so many shifters.

+ I think that explosion was from throwing the titans.

Man you might be right about this man big time. But the bigger question is how did armin become a shifter prior to eren? Is eren's father involved? or it the Ape titan involved with Armin's shift?

Dude you have mindblown me even more with this theory sooo many more questions are arising now :(

A great theory, but there are points made throughout this and previous chapters that make it impossible.

1. He told Haness to go look for Eren and Mikasa on his way to the boats.

2. If he was, it would be impossible for him to catch up to Haness and get on the boat before Eren/Mikasa... If he moved as a titan, he'd have been spotted.

3. Additionally, this titan has been drawn by other titans without them attacking it.

4. Armin is seen riding beside Haness whrn Eren and Mikasa are thrown off... The titan you speak of appears directly before Eren and Mikasa (opposite way of which he rides).

5. No noticeable transformation or explosion is seen. That is the dust from the force of impact of pinching a 15 meter giant quite some distance. Even if it is, it is Bertholdt as Armin is riding by Haness.

6. Armin is also likely the one who calls out to Eren and Mikasa just before we see the mom Titan.

He physically cannot be the Titan.

I agree that it may be difficult for armin to reach the boat before them. But where you say armin is riding beside eren and mikasa before mom titan arrives, i believe you are refering to historia.

Right here we see Historia

She's riding on Connie's horse (as she has lost hers for the moment), and Ymir follows behind them. Additionally, notice that they are noticeably far away from where the Titan is being launched too, and that they are moving a little off angle from Reiner's thrown target direction.

At the bottom left panel of this page we see Armin and Hannes.

The Titan that was thrown crashes right next to them. There is further evidence as Jean is depicted right beside Hannes as well on the page just prior (we also see the Titan coming down overhead).

Also, there could have been a chance it was Historia; however, I'd say the hair doesn't match, but more proof is Historia is basically laped over on the horse laying over to where her head sits on the horses right. The image of the person looking back has their head turned to the left of the horses side, and is sitting upright (not to mention Connie nor Ymir is anywhere nearby).

This also shows that Armin is moving in the direction that is opposite the one the Mom Titan is shown walking at the end of the chapter.

Mom Titan ==> Eren and Mikasa <=== Armin, Hannes, Jean, etc.

I tried to find it, but there's even a picture of the Mom Titan by other Titans... but after spending too much time with no results I've given up.
