why are people underrating hashirama by saying nagato can beat him?

If you're talking about perfect Nagato, as in the one that KM Naruto and a perfect jin Bee fought and almost lost to, then yes he does win the battle from what we've seen. Tree techs would be absorbed because its still chakara based. From the techs that we've seen Madara use Nagato could counter any one of them. His healing factor won't be much of a factor once he's stuck in a ball of rock or has his soul ripped out.

We never saw everything nagato could do. when he was fighting against naruto, we didnt even know that he could bring back the dead to life..nagato may also have a lot of secret sage moves. and lets not forget that no one never really defeated nagato.. he offered to help naruto. and in the manga against itach, naruto and the 8 tails.. nagato showed them how to defeat and counter his attacks.. he is very powerful so we dont know who will win between him and the first hokage

How can we safely say that? We have seen Hashirama fight once and then he got sealed along with his brother and both of Orochimaru's arms pretty darn quickly.

I'd rather we wait 'till we see a real fight with Hashirama in the manga via flashbacks.

While he was always undoubtly powerful, I find it annoying that this hype came AFTER he was revived and re-sealed.

You do know the key words Kabuto said was that There's not many ninja on his level anymore, meaning there are still ninjas on Hashirama's level. We never seen Nagato fight at full power either so don't be quick to vote for either. I do agree that Nagato has what it takes to beat Hashirama, he could absorb any chakra based jutsus, repel wood element, earth element and water element, if Hahirama gets close he could get his soul ripped from him and using his summons for more visual on his surrounds really helps Nagato's case. Jiraiya even said Nagato learned all elements as a child so he has what it takes to win, so far we know sound base genjutsu works on the rinnegan and sharingan so unless Hashirama has any I don't see him winning. The rinnegan gave birth to all jutsus, that's why it allows the user to use all of the elements.

you guys forget jiraiya almost solo'd pain. He killed three paths. And could have potentially killed the others if he were aware of them. So pain or nagato are not unbeatable. It just takes a skilled shinobi. Hell kakashi almost killed deva path.

Yes I do agree with you but look at it this way.

People could say Nagato beats Iruka. Now this is most likely true but you never know, Iruka could potentially have the most haxed tech just given to him out of nowhere... When doing a VS you have to take into account of what has been shown. The 4th hasn't shown Sage mode nor an element but most people should agree that he most likely had these abilities. But you shouldn't take them into account when putting him in a VS discussion.

I'm happy to change my views on Nagato vs Hashirama if somebody can give a good argument why Hashirama wins.

If your read closely in the manga, it clearly states that hashing a uses his elements of earth, and water plus chakra to create life. Which is the trees and life.

Since when can Nagato suck out life?
