Just have the mentality that you are what they want and don't give out too much attention and don't be too nice (beware the friendzone)

Why is it a bad thing to care about people you like/love very much and give them all the attention they want? Dafuq, why should it be bad to be "too nice"?

Thanks for the advice, I try to be as normal as I can when talking to girls so I don't give too much attention and I'm detached from the outcome. So I'm thinking if I'm really nervous around them that I shouldn't talk to them yet. However, maybe I should just go for it and look weird the first couple times to desensitize me. It all started with me saying hi to a girl walking by to asking directions and taking it a step further when I felt ready.

I think it's the social convention maybe it's because men are expected to lead .

well sometimes not chasing works as well, if one is confidence enough on what they say and do probably it makes them attractive so if a girl is really attracted to you then she probably will ask you but if it doesn't go that way then you better at least let her know from your actions and behaviors.......if you really like the girl then you can't take the risk of losing her right ? Lol .

BUT SERIOUSLY.....yeah the mans first move is to trick her into making the first move. LOL, but seriously again.......I pondered this myself. Men are expected to make the first move...deal with rejection like a champ and be on his way then they get mad because they feel men are dogs but I had too much time on my hands one night and debated with myself that the "dog persona" is a result of this gender role. If you approach every girl you honestly care about, the rejection is going to hurt even worse when you do get rejected (no one bats 100), but if you just view them as a piece of meat, a number, or conquest, then if she is like "no" you're like "there are others with a vagina" you don't care about the "bimbo" so you just go on to the next one and overtime you fully mesh with the persona you created and now you're really a dog. I believe it stems as a defensive response to avoid the negative emotions felt with rejection; almost like a preemptive strike. If you don't care you don't hurt. Just a fun theory. Kinda interesting.

Because the women who made the first move often scared away the suitors who expected them to be shy and innocent otherwise they get called all the lowly names. :| Remember those Victorian women who supposedly fainted or swooned all the time and needed the smelling salt...

A more of a western idea but they over powered too many culture with their set of values so...
