itachi is a genius as well. but i think shikamaru is known to have the highest IQ in the series? or maybe in his age group? idk but im going with shikamaru cause thats what he's known for. itachi just has way way wayy more experience which is why is so smart.

I do think itachi is smart and pretty good whith stragetys but still shikamaru has don way more better stragetis than itachi but still itachi coouuld be smarter but if its about stragetys shikamaru would when whth out a dout

itachi has the best stragetys period
he planned his own death. and even after death broke an edo . did shikumaru do that? no he can barley defend his self in a war. he is made to be a general at the HQ like his father or the join forces with his team ino-shika-choji
they have combos they have worked on for so long, but itachi has the knowledge to shape the future. he can make things go according to plan. and he is a fighting genius.

You're clearly a fanboy, which is why you're not taken seriously when you debate. Any thread with itachi or sasuke in it you're constantly defending both of them without using any kind of logic. The truth is Shikamaru has better feats in the intelligence department than Itachi does.

they are both geniuses , and extremely smart at that, but i think shikimaru has a higher IQ
BUT
shikamaru may just have more intelligence in planning strategies , itachi still has battle experience , which is why he is able to break down enemy jutsu and find weaknesses so fast etc

uh actually it is he had a price on his head. he even joined the most evil gang ever. ever! an still watched over his lil bro and he contacted close to the third hokage to make sure sasuke was ok without anyone knowing or detecting his presence. itachi is almost the perfect shinobi naruto will be that next one. its more than brain power that makes you a genius its pass life exp and what you learn from it.
shikamaru is clearly smarter than itachi is this even a question it's as if you think itachi is master mind when he's clearly not his plan has failed against tobi who he was in shock too he's not smart like shikamaru, itachi just has some good battle stratgetics and is a calm anbu member like kakashi if you have not relize this.shikamaru clearly is smarter than him even shikamaru made a succesful attempt to hold tobi and tobi even acknowledged him saying things to shikamaru because shikamaru actually got him.

kakashi stated "I have the same IQ as shikamaru" and kakashi made it seem like he was giving itachi credit as being the smarter of the two when they fought, stating "this is a guy who was chief commander of anbu at age 13" and we've seen how quickly he analyzed and broke the chibaku tensei, he immediately found out the weak spot and knew how to destroy it, and he spoke with such confidence, notice he never said "if", he said "this will break his jutsu" I think this is because of his experience also, and that is what makes him a smarter ninja, he never really panics but just analyze everything. but shikamaru is dangerously smart though. I just think itachi's experience makes him a smarter ninja, it has taught him how to deal with really difficult situations. and just think, if itachi had a really strong jutsu, he could have figured out and destroyed the same justu that is suppose to have created the moon all on his own in mere seconds!!
