there is a reson why Hiruzen (16 years ago - about Jiraiyas age and Jiraiya pretty uch seemed in his prime when he died) wes desperate for Minato to take on the Kyubi even though Hiruzen had a whole army of Konoha Jounins behind him and they were still being pwnd, if Kyubi would have fired a TBB they would all be eradicated most likely

than Minato showed up and they were all happy and he took care of everything by himself he transported the fox and set up a strong barrier so fast and even Hiruzen couldnt enter

He was not 'desperate' for Minato to combat the Kyuubi. At the time both were the 'Hokage', but technically the Third had resigned and the Fourth was the 'official' hokage. Thus, it would make sense for the fourth to combat an invasion.

Of course the Konoha Jounins got owned. This is the kyuubi we're talking about. The most powerful Bijuu just behind the ten tails. Even with speed the Fourth would not have defeated the Kyuubi, as it was thanks to Kushinas special chakra that held the Kyuubi down.

Sarutobi was old these days when Kyuubi attacked the village and Minato was young.

Iruka didn't say he was strongest shinobi just the strongest in the village and that was just at that moment, 4rth wins, its an epic battle but sage mode combined with is speed kinda makes the 4rth the strongest ninja in naruto until naruto surpasses him.

I would dare to say in his prime he was the strongest Kage of his time, if the 4th lived aslong as the 3rd maybe he would of surpassed him but we shall never know

Most people get to have prime in their life Minato never got a chance to reach His full potential and the 3 was pass His, theirs a reason why the 3rd retired in favor of Minato at that time, the 3rd knew His time was coming to an end, but when Minato died their was no one in the village to take Minato's place so they ask the 3rd to unmerited and before you say Jiraiya or Tsunade, they were road warriors at that time hared to find and even harder to hold in one place. And Orochimaru was already on the road to the dark side.

16 years ago Hiruzen was 16 years younger thus being around the age Jiraiya was when he died!!
