[Discussion] Who's the best Captain (Kenpachi or Byakuya)

The best captain. You need to be more specific. Division wise. Kenpachi. Since he actually cares for his subordinates.
Byakuya only cares about himself and rukia. Possibly Renjikenpachi is also the stronger of the two. Byakuya the faster and more versatile.
Kenpachi is better though.

Despite how they act I believe that both of them care for all of their subordinates and both are somewhat interesting characters. The difference is that Zaraki has built somewhat of a camaraderie with his men through their shared bloodlust, whereas Byakuya has built no interpersonal relationships with his men outside of a few and as a result he has no camaraderie with them despite his desire to protect them.
But speaking in terms of which is more valuable to the Gotei 13, then I would have to say Kenpachi Zaraki by a margin.
Any soul reaper that holds the title "Kenpachi" is already an invaluable asset, but the sheer magnitude of Zaraki's power and natural ability with the sword allowed him to be the one exception to the "all captains must have bankai" rule that had been in place for centuries.
That alone demonstrates how much the Soul Society values Zaraki.
By comparison Byakuya is just another captain albeit a powerful one and a nobleman

Byakuya may have more prestige than Zaraki but the soul society values Zaraki more out of necessity.
So to me Kenpachi Zaraki is the better captain.

Naw Byakuya is most like neji,aizen is most like itachi or gin in some way.
Anyway Byakuya is the best captain why even ask.
Out of those two I'd go with Byakuya even though I like them both very much, he is more well rounded and versatile whereas Kenpachi is just a tank who cuts down anything in his way, as badass as that is Byakuya is just more calm collected and reasonable. Byakuya has superb speed, excellent swordsmanship, high intelligence and a great Zanpakuto, also a kido expert performing kido in the 80's, Kenpachi and Byakuya are two of my favorites though no doubt about it.
