I think it's obvious that Minato is more intelligent than itachi. The only smart things I remembered that itachi did are
when he put the Amatersu inside of Sasuke's eye, and when he analyzed Nagato's CT (which was not all that impressive though).

Has he done anything else?

Analyzed the weakness of Nagato's gravity thingy justu within 5 seconds of first glance l:
Looping Kabuto which resulted in the end of the edos besides Madara, and the saving of Sasuke's life, and maybe Naruto's as well seeing as Naruto seems to be pointing out that he knows he can't solo madara.

Actually saving *THE LEAF VILLAGE* from the uchiha, and being part of Sasuke's growth(for better or worse)
