Kishi is the author of the naruto manga,therefore if Kishi holds a statement about a character in HIS manga then it has to be taken as a solid piece of evidence/proof.

Minato can't possibly be stronger than Shodaime.
1. Shodaime beat madara several times. and when they duelled at the valley of the end. Shodaime "killed" Madara.
2. Yondaime did not manage to beat Madara. Not even the Kyubi alone. Which Shodaime took care of.
3. If Yondaime couldn't beat madara and Shodaime did. Then yondaime is not the strongest shinobi.
4. Shodaime was known as the strongest of them all. Even Madara states that when talking to sasuke.

and someone mentioned that any akatsuki member would beat Shodaime.. hardly hardly hardly unlikely.. The leader of Akatsuki, old Madara (who seemingly is the strongest in akatsuki), who as previously mentioned, lost against Shodaime!

So those who chose Yondaime cuz he's their favorite. The fact is undeniable. Shodaime > Yondaime.. sorry

it's tru but it's not sure till now if that was madara who pwnd the 4th, when the fourth appeared in the mind of naruto, he said there was a masked guy who controlled the kyubi.And even if it was madara then it's been a long time since he fought with 1st so he should have trained hard and got amazing jutsus.And Naruto controlling the ninetails and becoming more powerful than the 1st is lol cz 1st could control the beast(It was his special capability so why is there talkings abt the controlling of the beast..

I seem to differ from this a little....Yes,minato himself said that he was no match for madara...first hokage had beaten madara but there is that time difference btw madaravs1st and madaravs4th.He may hav trained really hard..And however 4th didn't say that he was pwn by madara...when he appeared in the mind of NAruto, he said the masked guy was very powerful and he his jutsus were nothing against the masked guy!!!!

Itachi calls Madara a 'former shell of himself' so it's quite possible that Hirashima fought the stronger version of Madara and weakened him to a point that he's trying to fully recover his full powers still to this day. Minato's disadvantage was that he didn't have a cheap bloodline that could control the nine-tails though.

he defeated the nine tails without the cheap wood bloodline, and it was said that he was "the most gifted shinobi konoha has ever produced". plus kakashi said "naruto you are the only shinobi in this WORLD who can surpass the fourth hokage". and im pretty sure kakashi knows what he's talking about. plus, i heard somewhere a ninja must know 1000 jutsu before becoming hokage, so rasengan, hiraishin, reaper death seal, summoning gamabunta only scratch the serface for the 4th. oh yeah and 4th was the ONLY ninja to achieve the status of "FLEE ON SIGHT"!!!

I think the 4th would win hands down. The 4th beat Madara when he was in his prime in a 1 on 1 battle. That is ridiculous. Minato even stated that he could not beat Madara, and everything he attempted was useless.
