People agree on fourth being equal to 3rd ... hmm..
could be possible...
but here is another issue. I thought fourth was the youngest to be hokage. Come to think of it, 1st and 2nd hokage did choose sarutobi to be the next hokage at very young age possibly in between 13 to 15 (As shown in anime).
remember when shodaime and nidaime were talking to sandaime and told him he'll be hokage from tomorrow on.. i guess he was at a REAAALLLY young age... compared with yondaime who looked somewhat older for sure..
Sarutobi was knows as the strongest of all the hokages he fought with the first and the second hokage and killed them alone but he was realy old then when he fought with Orochimaru and the others
then they were pretty weak for being hokages.
everything i say to this theme are just assumptions, cause we never saw 1st, 2nd and 3rd in a real fight.
strongest: 1st he was able to beat fox and madara at the same time, the 4th sacrificed himself to beat the last.
youngest: i didn't watch this anime where 2nd talks to 3rd, (which episode is it?) otherwise i would have said 4th, but if it's true what u said than it's the 3rd
The strongest Hokage is the 5th, if we look at strength alone. Even though the 3rd was set to become Hokage, it wasn't official. The 4th was definitely the youngest Hokage( if we look at his age at the time it became official). But don't forget that the 4th was the most feared... no other Kage/shinobi has ever been deemed so deadly that orders were to retreat when seen.. Being able to control a tailed beast is a talent, just like being able to throw a kunai. And if we look at it like that then the 4th was powerful enough to take down the most deadly of the tailed beast... So, he was (overall) the most powerful Hokage... right??
it was stated by kishi that the 4 th was the strongest of all people who is dead but my personal opinion I would say the first the youngest was the third but I dont know if it was offical the reason I say this is because when you see the flash back of the 3rd hokage with the 1st & 2nd he looks about 12 when they both say he hokage you can see the flash back in the orochimaru fight with the 3rd
there! ) of course girls in NARUTO is way inferior to guy characters! hahahaha.
So no doubt, tsunade is the weakest! but let's give her a credit, she's a SANNIN, from SENJU clan, best MEDICAL nin, immortal GODDESS, & the strongest FEMALE character. )
* on the preceding comments, i've read that TSUANDE can't use NIN or GEN? but i don't believe that coz she can use KINJUTSU. She shouldn't been made a SANNIN and a HOKAGE if she doesn't know how to use NIN or GEN! ryt ?? coz' even a genin can use a simple NIN! hahahahah.
* what i think is that, she prefers to use TAI coz' it's the easiest jutsu that can be used! ) like in dodging the enemies attacks (medical nin's should be best in here). and in what i've seen on her fight against Kabuto, she's a LIGHTNING nature user! ) remember when she used the electric field! )
Hello all! This is my first post here (or on any anime forum for that matter) so I'm not sure of proper protocol or anything like that so go easy on me. I was reading through the posts in this thread and I felt an impulse to add my 2 cents.
The hokages are all obviously amazing shinobi as they wouldn't have become leaders of the greatest ninja village otherwise. They all have their talents and have extremely large chakra reserves but their abilities are better for different situations. For example:
-Shodaime had the perfect ability (it was a kekkei genkai if I'm not mistaken) for controlling the Kyuubi and creating forests.
-Nidaime was an excellent water nature and taijutsu user but we weren't really shown any amazing feats.
-Sandaime was, to me, the greatest all around ninja as he was able to perform, or at least knew, how every jutsu in his village worked. His talent would be his amazing learning potential.
-Yondaime had the greatest reputation because his feats seemed the most epic.
This is probably because Kishimoto wanted Naruto to have epicness in his blood.
He was a genius at creating his own techs. His Flying Thunder God (FTG) jutsu allowed him to take out basically a whole army in a short amount of time. His Death God sealing jutsu was able to seal the massive chakra based life form that is the Nine Tailed Fox. Yondaime hadn't even reached his prime yet when he sacrificed himself. He had much more room to grow.
None of these feats are particularly comparable to determine greater battle prowess but, like I said, in terms of the best blend of ability, Sandaime takes the cake. He was considered the God of Shinobi after all (which is a much cooler title than Yellow Flash IMO). In a fight, Sandaime has already proven himself against Sho- and Ni-daime although I'm not sure if Orochimaru's summons were as powerful as the originals. Yondaime's FTG, however, might prove to be too much for the great Sandaime and most other ninja but since Sandaime most likely knew how it worked he could probably come up with a way to counter it.
Shodaime, however, was able to defeat Madara Uchiha and control the Kyuubi while Yondaime had to sacrifice himself to seal away the Kyuubi and was being countered every step by Madara. Shodaime seemed to be specifically built to counter that duo...
So, in conclusion, Yondaime, if given another 10 years, would be a greater ninja than anyone ever. Sandaime in his prime wins this one though.
The youngest is either Sandaime Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen or Yondaime Hokage Minato Namikaze. It is shown in the manga that Shodaime and Nidaime told Sarutobi that his time to become Hokage would begin very soon and Sarutobi was very young at the time. However it is later shown that Sarutobi took on a squad of genins (Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade) and trained them when he was older. I'm not sure how things go exactly in Konoha but I'm thinking the Hokage wouldn't be able to ignore his responsibilties to go around doing D-rank missions with three snotty nosed brats. So by the time he was officially Hokage he was probably older than Minato as Minato most likely became Hokage within a few years after Kakashi Gaiden takes place.

didnt the third hokage say that wen the coffins were rising and in the anime the third one was mareked 4th for 4th hokage and he wuldnt be able to last long against teh 4th
