Who was the strongest character at the end of Dragon Ball Z?

First off mystic Gohan is the strongest unfused character in DBZ as stated by Akira Toriyama himself. Kid buu isn't even the strongest buu as that title belongs to super buu. Kid buu was said to be the most dangerous, but not the strongest.
Vegeta said Goku could kill kid buu in an instant if he was at full power in his ssj3 form as shown here:

Now Goku says to Vegeta while in super buus innards that if they go out than they'll both be killed(meaning even in his ssj3 form he was no match for unfused super buu) as shown here:

In conclusion unfused super buu is stronger than kid buu meaning his fused forms are only that much stronger than kid buu. The list of the strongest characters goes like this Vegito>Gohan Buu>Gotenks Buu>Mystic Gohan>Unfused Super Buu>=ssj3 Gotenks>ssj3 Goku>Kid Buu>Fat Buu

Mystic Gohan easily. Did you not read and see the scans in my post above? Goku said to Vegeta that if they went out of unfused super buus innards than they would both be killed meaning Goku was no match for super buu even in his ssj3 form. Mystic Gohan was tearing super buu apart like it was nothing when they fought.

Ssj4 goku and Vegeta are stronger than any form of Gohan, but i agree Mystic Gohan is the strongest unfused in DBZ.
the is no argument there because in GT gahan isn't the strongest the list is:
Goku
Vegeta
Majuub
Gohan
Trunks
Goten
gohan's power either went down and everyone got much much stronger
and the reason gohan can turn super saiyan in Gt is kinda hard to grasp because the company that owns DBGT and akira gave to reasons why he can turn super saiyan. but one reason (is the hard one to grasp given by the company) when he became mystic all his hidden power was released and that was all the power he had in all his years of training so he didnt need to go super saiyan but during the years between Z and GT he trained and.or got stronger so it canceled out mystic because mystic wasn't meant for the user to get stronger after their power was unlocked (i know its stupid reasoning thats why i go by AKira's reason why he can go super saiyan) Akira's reason is simple... mystic just wore off! lol

Unless you count base super boo as a fused villain, he should be the strongest unfused villain. But everything else is good.Strongest fused villain: Super Boo w/ Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo absorbed.
Strongest non-fused villain: Kid Boo.
Strongest fused hero: Vegito.
Strongest non-fused hero: Gohan
