I think Fugaku might have taught him the basics just as he did Sasuke since Fugaku was always busy involved with Itachi but it seems that maybe with some help from ANBU and what he was taught in the academy he pretty much trained himself.

Even though I don't like the guy he was literally born with talent. Which is kind of cool.

Knowing Itachi, he wouldn't just say a lie for the hell of saying it. There has got to be a reason. And telling Sasuke that Obi was his trainer and lying about it would be just a waste of breath. He wouldn't say something like that if it was just a lie. Itachi lied for a REASON. Obi being his mentor, I think, isn't a lie at all.

It's confirmed... You don't read the manga at all. The reason Itachi lied to Sasuke is cause he wanted Sasuke to Hate Madara/Obito as well. That way he would stay loyal to the leaf and not believe whatever madara said

Who trained Itachi into the beast that he was. People say Obito trained Itachi but considering Obito got roflstomped by Kakashi I seriously doubt that. Itachi was 13-14 when he killed his clan.. He also was an anbu captain like (kakashi, Yamato, Orochimaru)
