. He put not only Konoha's well being over his and his family, he put other village's well-being first when he chose to seal Kurama into Naruto. He could have chose to live by letting Kushina seal the fox before dying but he didn't want the fox to revive later on without a host since he'll be too dangerous, nothing would stop him from returning to Konoha for revenge or being captured by another village for more power. He chose to seal half the fox into Naruto so Naruto can use its power to stop Tobi and believed in his son to be able to do it, this is risking his son's happiness for the village (keep the power among the nation balanced) and the whole ninja world (Tobi).
