Who made Sasuke great? Obito or Itachi?

Sasuke advanced further under Oro than anybody else. Kakashi taught him raiton but he learned how to change chakra form with Oro and could shift his lightning to multiple forms. That training is probably why he was the only one to be able to control Amaterasu and create Enton. He gained multiple summons and even genjutsu (remember the scene when he first met Sai) which he never used in part 1. He even picked up a katana, his signature weapon.

Kakashi is a close second. One of the first to really teach him how to use sharingan in battle. Taught him raiton and alot of fundamentals.

Obito literally did nothing. Itachi mind raped him into the wacko he was for most of the series.

For terms of motivation, it's Itachi, though indirectly. For his entire time in the main manga series. Then Naruto.

Before massacre: Wants to surpass Itachi as a shinobi and gain recognition
After massacre: Still wants to surpass Itachi, but in order to kill him
After Itachi's reveal: Wants to acquire power and gain vengeance for his late brother
After tnj via Edo Tensei Itachi: Wants to change system so his brother's case does not go in vain
After tnj with Naruto: Wants to support Naruto

But in terms of working hard- Sasuke still did. He's responsible for his own training. He honed his ocular powers after he awakened them due to his elder brother's influence. Prior to that, he trained extensively with Orochimaru. And even before that he learned a few things from Kakashi and practiced often. In part one, we actually saw his training sessions more than we saw Naruto's.

I'd say Orochimaru made him great. Hebi Sasuke was a beast. I loved the way Hebi Sasuke fought his opponents with strategies and combat senses.

This ! I think most of his power comes from Oro. He barely got anything himself except for his uchiha blood

I wonder how it would've turned out if Obito had never told him the truth. Would someone else have told him the truth eventually? Since learning that truth was what allowed him to awaken MS at that time. The desire for vengeance eventually led to his quick blindness which then Obito used to bring up the point about eternal light.

Itachi was after the same thing. Hoping Sasuke would take that information about EMS (Itachi brought it up as well) so he can take his eyes and return to the village. If he turned against the village, then eventually Naruto would faced him and the Shisui eyeball crow would've used KA on him.


It was a good plan but unfortunately, Obito got his hands on him and led him towards the same yet different path.
