You do realize that the whole reason Sasuke had to wait so long to get his revenge is because everyone kept getting in his way. There was also the whole "revenge is bad" outlook everyone seem to have had during Part One that mysteriously disappeared when it came to Part Two. The fact that Shikamaru was gonna do just like Sasuke and leave the village without permission for his own goal, and nothing came of that says plenty...

Shikamaru is obviously much smarter than Sasuke. Sasuke's more of an on-the-spot battle genius type whilst Shika is able to think several steps ahead of his opponents and lay out complex plans and traps....so.....Shikamaru!
