Who is more of a "main" character Shikamaru or Sakura?

OT: How dare you! Making me choose between my literal two favorite characters. They've both added to the story and have helped take down an Akatsuki member. I'm gonna go with Sakura though. As a mass healer and keeping Naruto alive, I think she deserves it as of now.

Despite being a "main" character sakura has only had 4 battles sound team , ino, sasori, and the war stuff. Shikamaru on the other has had more then 10 battles sound team, kin, temari , sound jonin, tayayu, kakuzu and hidan, hidan solo, and his war fights. Despite being a "side" character he has had much more battle time then sakura! Does this make him more of a "main" character than sakura or does it not matter?

Shikamaru without question. Kishi even dedicated a huge part of the Hidan/Kakazu arc to Shikamaru's development. Kishi didn't even bother doing so for Sakura. Even after the war, Shikamaru will serve an important leadership role in the village as one of Naruto's advisers. Sakura? Who knows. I guess she'll be around. But doing what? Head of the medical core maybe? I'onno.

It's obviously Shikamaru and that's not even debatable. He has concrete development, his own arc, and multiple battles. He's definitely more of a focus and will continue to be since he pledged to be Naruto's right hand man and that he inherited Asuma's Will of Fire and kid to teach.

Most of the guys have more development than the girls. Sakura has had more of a role than Shikamaru, she is apart of team 7 with Naruto and Sasuke and kept Naruto alive many a time. Shikamaru though is right up there no doubt as one of Kishi's favorite characters and im glad Kishi has highlighted him and others before. Ino Shika Cho without a doubt receive just as much development in a sense as team 7 in comparison with the other two teams. Guy and Lee i guess are getting some development now, and we saw Shino, Kiba, and HInata's new moves like once....in comparison to shikamarus team thats how it seems at least.

It doesn't matter though because if Naruto lives and becomes hokage, Sakura and Shikamaru both will be helping him run the joint. They have the most experience with kage related stuff (and yes Sakura does have more hokage knowledge in a sense because shes been training under a hokage for 3 years now. Shes been around it, before anyone says im saying something out of bounds. Shikamaru is the same though, he became a jonin super quick and hes been helping his dad and Tsunade for just as long)

Its true that shikamaru has more accomplishments than sakura and even had sad moments. And I learn from him cause he bro. In plot wise sakura, but actual wise shika. but I'm going to say sakura just for the hell of it.

To everyone saying Shikamaru because of Shikamaru's development. Sakura has had development too. Sakura learned to understand and work with Naruto and treat him better. While she's not very strong, her powers have developed into something useful. Back in part 1 all she could do is stand and watch while everyone was fighting now she can support them using Katsuya's healing.

Shikamaru has added more and is a more interesting character but Sakura is more directly involved in the main action, even if thats just entirely down to her happening to be in Team Kakashi.
