Who is more of a "main" character Shikamaru or Sakura?

Despite being a "main" character sakura has only had 4 battles sound team , ino, sasori, and the war stuff. Shikamaru on the other has had more then 10 battles sound team, kin, temari , sound jonin, tayayu, kakuzu and hidan, hidan solo, and his war fights. Despite being a "side" character he has had much more battle time then sakura! Does this make him more of a "main" character than sakura or does it not matter?

Sakura wasn't exceptional in combat, but on the other hand had a lot more dialogue with Naruto and Sasuke.
I feel that since Sakura is one of the earliest characters ever introduced and was a part of the original team 7 with the mainmain characters, Naruto and Sasuke, she is automatically a lot more involved in the story overall. Not that i think she is better than Shikamaru, i just think she had more of a role due to her being in team 7. If Shikamaru had been put in team 7 he would win.

In terms of actual status, then Sakura is a main character and Shikmaru is support - but by how Kishi has portrayed and shown them in the manga, the development: Shikamaru wins.

In my opinion only sasuke, naruto , and kakashi deserve to be called the main characters. Just look at how much influence their stories hold over the entire plot. Sakura's influence doesn't even come close.

Just like with other characters Shikamaru is more of a main character than Sakura despite not being part of the main team.

Actually, no, it's not unfortunate. Shikamaru wins this.

Sorry Sakura... but compared to Shikamaru who is supposedly a side character (I can't tell anymore, Shikamaru has gotten so much of the spotlight in the last 671 chapters...), the only place you truly seem to shine is back in the Chiyo & Sakura v Sasori fight...

In fact, your best arc ever IMO was the Kazekage Retrieval Arc and that was the only one that worked for me. Shikamaru's appeareances and spotlights in the other arcs (yes, plural) overtake yours, unfortunately.
