No you are not. Early one piece is quite rough. It takes quite some time to get into it. I reccomend skipping all the filler episodes so you can get into the good stuff quicker.

And yes, Naruto is a lesser cheesier version of Goku, so it makes it that much less enjoyable to look at him when I have seen the exact same thing when watching DBZ, but the only difference is that Goku was actually cool with his actions.
His first awakening of SSJ1 and SSJ3 were awesome.
Naruto is a second rate hack that tries to exemplify Goku but at the same time failed.
So, to answer your question, yes, he is a half assed copy.
Naruto is way more similar to Goku than Luffy is. I'm sorry that your fanboyish fapping of Naruto makes you cloud your judgment but this parallel of Naruto and Goku has been proven many times. They even have Naruto in the same exact costume as Goku in Storm 3. This proves how much they resemble each other.
Luffy's character is only similar to Goku when it comes to being stupid and protecting his friends and eating. Other than that, Luffy is his own person. Luffy doesn't try to instill the essence of peace like Goku and Naruto do. Luffy just wants to achieve one goal and that goal is becoming pirate king. If anyone gets in his way the he resumes to "kicking their ass" to get to where he needs to go.
Naruto and Goku are loving and care about everything. Luffy only cares about his goals and his nakama. Luffy doesn't go out of is way to help strangers that aren't connected to his life.
That's the difference, now leave me alone, fanboy.
I LIKE LUFFY MORE. MUCH MUCH MORE than naruto. But it is not hard to see at all that Luffy has much more traits of goku than naruto does.
Clothing has little to do with personality. And this thread is about PERSONALITY, NOT character design.
Luffy is loud goofy stupid and wants to protect his friends as well. In fact both of them(luffy and goku also share 2 other traits like this. They both are playful and enjoy fighting(naruto doesnt really), and they both eat inhumane amounts of food.(naruto doesnt do this either)
Naruto has more things that make him stand out more personality wise than luffy. He has more weird quirks.
Nobody denies that kishi loved Toriyamas work, and that it had a profound influence on his manga.
Also nobody should deny(as you have) that Oda also had the same love of Toriyamas work, and it had a profound influence on his manga.
Both oda and kishi based many traits of their characters off of goku.
If they were family(naruto luffy and goku), goku would be the older brother, luffy would be the younger brother, and naruto would be that weird cousin.
Luffy is has a very similar personality to goku. Naruto has very similar ideals to goku. Naruto has less similar personality to goku, and luffy has less similar ideals to goku.
